Free UK Book Publishing Agreement

Posted by on Aug 16th, 2014

The following link takes you to a word document template of a simple book publishing agreement in letter format:

Initial Publishing Agreement

The agreement is suitable to use in the initial stages of a publishing project in order to give enough contractual certainty and protection so that work can commence before the parties later on enter into a more comprehensive publishing agreement containing more comprehensive provisions, particularly in relation to royalties.  This form of initial publishing agreement is particulary relevant for the situation where the author is a contractor who is producing content for a branded series owned and developed by the publisher.

Where you see capitalised text surrounded by square brackets this indicates areas where you will need to input your own relevant data in non-capitalised text before removing the capitalised text and square brackets.

DISCLAIMER: This agreement may not be suitable for your circumstances and we recommend you seek legal advice before using it. Jonathan Lea Limited does not take any responsibility for any events that arise as a result of your use of this document.
