Mark trained and worked for several years at leading New Zealand law firm Minter Ellison and is qualified as a non-practising solicitor and barrister in New Zealand.  He relocated to the United Kingdom and has worked for the past 11 years as an inhouse solicitor at Next Retail Limited and as lead counsel for two of it’s subsidiaries, Lipsy Limited and Marie Claire Beauty Limited.  During this time Mark gained experience of all aspects of commercial law.

  • Diploma in Legal Practice


In Mark’s spare time he enjoys cycling, walking and gardening and spending time with his family.  He has presented guest lectures on Intellectual Property and the Fashion Industry to law undergraduates on the University of Leicester Intellectual Property option course comprising part of its LLB Law degree.  He enjoys speaking conversational French, German and Italian.

  • Modelling/endorsement deals with various UK and US celebrities
  • Distribution, agency, concession and product licence agreements
  • Franchise agreements
  • Online concession and wholesale agreements for sale of branded clothing and other products
  • Providing training on understanding contracts/common pitfalls to procurement and wholesale teams
  • Beauty contracts for the Next online beauty business
  • IT contracts predominantly software licensing, bespoke software development and SAAS contracts
  • Product approvals/clearance in terms of trade marks, copyright and consumer laws
