
Laurie Heizler
Consultant Solicitor
Laurie works in the fields of intellectual property (IP) and general commercial law. His IP work covers transactional, advisory and contentious matters but he also specialises in the drafting of various contracts.
He represents creative businesses and individuals, consumer goods and services brands, technology providers and international ventures. He began his career as internal legal counsel in multinational food and pharmaceutical businesses having qualified as a barrister, a qualification he still retains having since been admitted as a solicitor. He has been a partner in several Legal 500 law firms.

Recent work
- Advised author of an educational work in connection with the publication of the work and ownership of the IP in third-party illustrations.
- Advice and actions in a long-running patent dispute involving possible issues of patent validity and actionable threats of infringement proceedings.
- Settlement of several trade mark and passing off disputes without the need for court proceedings.
- Successfully defended a trade mark invalidity action and a related Company Names Tribunal proceedings on behalf of an environmental services company.
- Drafted all documentation relating to the commissioning, musical performance rights and licencing in connection with the broadcasting of religious music concerts.
