
Rebecca Dowle
Rebecca is a Dispute Resolution Solicitor specialising in intellectual property, technology and data disputes, and general commercial litigation. Qualifying in March 2024, she trained in a Legal-500 Tier-1 team before joining The Jonathan Lea Network in June 2026 from a leading London West End disputes practice.
Rebecca’s core practice focuses on trademark, copyright, and database rights infringement, alongside contentious UK GDPR data breaches, complex IT software claims, and shareholder and founder disputes. She manages corporate conflicts, navigating partnership issues, company law disputes including unfair prejudice petitions, and breaches of directors’ duties. Her broader High Court expertise covers breach of contract, restrictive covenants, civil fraud, personal guarantees, professional negligence, and constructive or resulting trust claims.
Advising multinationals, SMEs, and HNWIs, Rebecca combines rigorous analysis with sharp tactical insight. Recent work
- Acted for an excluded founder and director in an unfair prejudice dispute involving the triggering of leaver provisions within the company’s articles of association; managed inter-partes negotiations with opposing solicitors regarding a potential strategic share buy-out resolution.
- Acted for the defendants in a cross-border IPEC trademark infringement dispute, drafting the mediation position statement and playing a key role in the mediation process.
- Advised on a complex technology dispute concerning bespoke software systems between a developer and an end user, facilitating settlement negotiations and drafting, negotiating, and completing a settlement deed to achieve a commercially favourable resolution.
- Acted for the claimant company and the affected data subject in a contentious data breach claim against a well-known professional services firm, managing pre-action correspondence, assessing the merits of potential claims and legal exposure, and advising on recoverable losses, damages, and ICO guidance.
- Acted for the claimant in a commercial dispute involving a breach of contract and a constructive trust claim over company shares; drafted the letter before action, managed inter-partes correspondence, and advised on the strategy to assert a beneficial interest.
- Acted in complex, multi-party shareholder and founder disputes, including defending a £500,000 personal guarantee claim and allegations of unfair prejudice. Advised on litigation strategy, negotiated commercial settlements, and represented clients throughout mediation.
- Assisted the defendants to High Court copyright and database rights litigation, including claims for unlawful data scraping and the misuse of proprietary data. This involved advising on the litigation strategy, liaising with counsel to prepare the defence, and managing the claim through complex procedural steps and deadlines within the Business and Property Courts.

Interests
Outside of work, Rebecca is an avid snowboarder and skier, having been involved in the sport since age 12. She is also a certified scuba diver and freediver, hobbies that require the same adaptability, focus, and calm decision-making under pressure that she applies to her legal practice.
Rebecca is also highly active in the legal community and serves as a committee member for the Commercial Litigators’ Forum in London.
